Overview of the latest accomplishments
Another year has gone by and our CDA of PEI executive members and committee members have accomplished many goals.
Fortunately, in 2021 CDA of PEI was able to offer another cohort of online training through Canadian Career Development Foundation (CCDF). Our Chair, Lisa Chiasson, also kept involved with plans for national certification.
“We are thrilled to have 28 people participating in 44 courses with this round of training so far and with a continuous intake,” says Lisa. “We will continue to offer a wage subsidy to those who qualify. If you or someone in your organization would like to still participate, please reach out to cdapei.training@gmail.com and we’ll get you registered as soon as possible.
“We currently have 15 Career Development Practitioners certified through New Brunswick Career Development Association,” says Lisa. “We are truly blessed to have this partnership and have been working hard on a certification process for CDPs on PEI and the time has finally come.”
In October 2021, three well-deserved post-secondary students received $500 each, and one of the recipients was profiled on the front page of The Employment Journey to celebrate Career Month.. To see the article, click here: Phyllis Pitre Bursary winner for 2021
We were also able to have our AGM in November 2020 and we established a new committee for 2021-22 and a committee to plan our 2021 Virtual Conference.
Our 2021 Virtual Conference was a huge success as a result of administrative guidance and technical support offered by UPEI, an incredible engaging lineup of speakers, and a creative and dedicated planning committee.
Membership benefits for 2022-23
Join us on November 28 for our Virtual Annual General Meeting, where we will provide exciting updates about the Association! We will be joined by special guest speakers and more details will be shared leading up to the event.
All members will be kept up to date on all local, regional, and national news in relations to the Career Development Profession through email and social media.
A portion of the CDA membership fees is used to fund our annual Phyllis Pitre Bursary. A bursary committee is formed each year.
We are thrilled to have 28 people now participating in 44 courses with this round of training so far. Training intake is continuous. We will continue to offer a wage subsidy to those who qualify. If you or someone in your organization would like to participate, please reach out to cdapei.training@gmail.com and if all criteria are met we will get you registered as soon as possible!
In addition to these exciting events, a current membership with the CDA of PEI is required to become eligible for Career Development Professional certification in New Brunswick. Many of our members now have their certification status because of training being offered through CDA of PEI partnerships.
Those of you who participated in Foundations, Ethical Practice and Theories in Career Development in 2021 and 2022 are eligible to apply for certification! You must have the required number of hours as well. Follow this link for more details.
We have a committee planning webinars and short-term additional training. Throughout the year, more information will become available to members who wish to participate.
