Overview of the latest accomplishments
Despite challenges when COVID-19 hit, the association continued to prosper by offering online training through Canadian Career Development Foundation (CCDF) and saw many complete the courses. Our Chair, Lisa Chiasson, kept involved with plans for national certification.
In August, three well deserved post-secondary students received $500 each after being selected as the Phyllis Pitre Bursary winners for 2020.
We were also able to have our AGM in November and we established a new committee for 2021-22 as well as a committee to plan our 2021 Virtual Conference. We were able to hire a staff person through the SkillsPEI Work Experience fund to be the administrator for the virtual conference.
Membership benefits for 2021-22
We will hold our annual conference on June 9, 2021. Our Conference will be virtual and is for career development professionals to feel inspired and rejuvenated in their jobs. The chosen theme for 2021 is Moving Ahead Together. Members will be able to attend for free. Those who are not yet members are invited to attend to get a look at the value of being a part of the association, at a cost of $35.
All members will be kept up to date on all local, regional, and national news in relations to the Career Development Profession through email and social media.
All members will have the privilege of a portion of the membership fees being used for our annual Phyllis Pitre Bursary.
2021 Training for Career Development Professionals is in the planning phase in partnership with CCDF and SkillsPEI and membership is required to apply for this training.
In addition to these exciting events, a current membership with the CDA of PEI is required to become eligible for Career Development Professional certification in New Brunswick. For those of you who participated in Foundations, Ethical Practice and Theories in Career Development in 2019 and 2020, you are all eligible to apply!
